About Handyman Express

Founded by entrepreneur Ken Ingram, from his home state of Texas, Handyman Express soon grew into the booming business that it is today. After migrating to California, Ken partnered with his father John in 1981 and this enterprise continues to be family owned and operated to this day.

With the opening of the Santa Ana office, Handyman Express enabled itself to serve a much wider area more quickly and efficiently. Ken found that he needed to expand his base of operations to meet the growing demand for his unique, customized work grew. The volume of work was simply too great for one man to accomplish alone.

The success of Handyman Express as a business was largely due to his companies ability to deliver on their word. Ken’s popularity with his customers, his detail oriented craftsmanship skills, individualized project development, and his creativity and artistic design in every area of remodeling are the trademarks of Handyman Express.

About Ken

I would like to introduce myself. Hi, my name is Ken. I have been in the construction business for nearly 35 years. When I started out as an apprentice carpenter, I was 17 years old.

I joined the Carpenter’s Union and went to Carpenter Apprenticeship School for 3 1/2 years. I then went out on my own. “Handyman, No Job too Big or Small, Call Ken.”

It started out with broken windows, broken doors, then the investors called on me to replace ALL the windows and doors, put on a new roof, jack the floors, put the bathtub where the toilet was, put the toilet where the sink was, and so on. I priced the job, turned in my quote, and guess what? I got the job! I said to myself, “I need help” so I put a “Help Wanted-All Trades” ad in the paper.

Soon I had a roofer on the roof, a plumber on the plumbing, a window man on the

windows, etc. It looked like everything was getting done and since the demand for my services was growing I said to myself, "I'm going home to man the phones, get more jobs lined up, and keep these guys working.”

I stayed in the business throughout my 20’s and 30’s. The jobs continued to get bigger and bigger. I enjoyed some good times and like any growing business, experienced some challenging times as well. I had learned a lot about the real estate business being in the remodeling business, as well as dealing with investors.

I had contemplated changing business for quite some time when I finally decided to stay in remodeling. When you have a passion for what you do, it’s hard to break away. So at 40 I got my Contractor’s License and have been in good standing with the Contactor’s Board ever since.

Thanks for getting to know me. I hope we can get to know you better and serve you in the future.
